Monday: EL Lesson #3! 
  • Go over Friday's homework (Gist of pages 4-9!) 
  • Review learning targets 
  • Add to our things close readers do chart (in the classroom) 
  • Complete a close reading and answer the questions in the student workbook on page 3. 
  • Learn how to write a QuickWrite! (Example in student workbook on page 4.)
  • Review learning targets.
Homework: Reread pages 4-9 & complete QuickWrite #1.  (More information can be found on page 4 of your student workbook!)

Tuesday: Media Center Orientation!
Homework: None! 

Wednesday: EL Lesson #4! 
  • Collect QuickWrite #1 
  • Review Monday's homework (QuickWrite #1) and review learning targets. 
  • Complete a close reading and answer the questions in the student workbook on page 6
  • Create a "Who is Ha?" group chart
  • Add to our Things Close Readers Do chart 
  • Review learning targets 
  • Exit ticket
Homework: Read pages 10-21, and complete QuickWrite #2! See page 7 in your student workbook! This graphic organizer may help you plan your QuickWrite! 

Thursday: EL Lesson #5!
  • Gallery Walk
  • Mid-Unit Assessment! In class, Minor Grade!  Students may use their notes from class, workbook, and QuickWrites for this assignment! 
Homework: None! 

Friday: EL Lesson #6! 
  • QuickWrite exemplar example
  • Review of learning targets 
  • Map study / questions 
  • Begin reading, "The Vietnam Wars," located on page 8 of your student workbook
    • Number each paragraph and record the gist after reading 
  • Answer the questions on page 13-14 based on the information presented on page 8
  •  Assign ONE of the remaining 3 readings.  Students will read and answer the questions associated with their assigned section.
Homework: Make sure you finished the questions on page 13-14, read your assigned section, and answer the corresponding questions. 

Ongoing Homework:
  • Review the Robert Frost poem
  • Study Word Within the Word List #9!
  • You will be quizzed on both, Friday, August 17th!
