Quarter 2- Week 2

10/10/2016

This week we will:
  • Continue to learn new stems from list #10
  • Complete Green Book Lesson #18
  • Complete the Green Book assessment
  • Move into Traditional Literature
  • Begin our novel unit on The Pearl
  • Have Saturday School!
*I have a class set of the novel, but students will not be able to check out/take home any copies.  The book is online (Amazon, etc.), can be found at Barnes and Noble, and/or the public library.  Having your own copy of the book can be helpful, but is not required.
We will be focusing on standards:
  • RL8.6: Analyze how differences in the points of view of the characters and the audience or reader (e.g., created through the use of dramatic irony) create such effects as suspense or humor.
  • RL8.9: Analyze how a modern work of fiction draws on themes, patterns of events, or character types from myths, traditional stories, or religious works such as the Bible, including describing how the material is rendered new.
Homework:
  • Study stem list #10
  • Article of the Week #2
  • Read your own book, nightly!
